There are so many ways you can support AIMGA.

You can become a member.  You can provide financial support.  And you can volunteer your time.  However you choose to get involved, you're making the right choice - because your support makes our work possible.

BE A MEMBER

Membership is open to all individuals and organizations who share the vision of AIMGA.  By joining AIMGA, you will be adding your voice and strengthening our numbers as we advocate for policy change in the health care system.

Members help guide the future of AIMGA and support the work we do by electing our Executive Committee.  As a member, you will also have access to our programs and receive our quarterly newsletter, LifeLine, to keep you informed about IMG issues.

To become a member, please complete the online registration form and send us your cheque for the $40.00 annual membership fee.  Annual memberships are valid until April 30th of each year, and must be renewed annually to maintain your active membership status.

BE A VOLUNTEER

We offer volunteer opportunities at AIMGA such as the newsletter committee, fundraising and sponsorship ambassadors, event planning, study group leaders, and more.

BE A MENTOR

We need physicians who are willing to provide opportunities for IMGs to observe or train in your office.

In mentorship / observership training arrangements, the IMG is only observing you do your work.  The IMG is unable to counsel, examine, diagnose, investigate or perform a medical procedure.

While not recognized for licensure purposes, mentoring does offer an essential opportunity for IMGs to maintain knowledge and prepare for clinical simulation exams.  No registration with the College of Physicians and Surgeons is required.  Mentors can volunteer to have an IMG for any period of time as negotiated between the IMG and the mentor.  For more information, please check our Observership Program page.

Note:  Preceptors are also needed! 

Post Graduate Residency Training Program seats may not be filled every year due to a shortage of teachers / preceptors.  To become a preceptor, please contact the applicable University department near you for more information.

Every donation helps!  All donations directly support our programs and services.

Our membership is comprised of over 600 foreign-trained physicians, and over 100 alumni, who have immigrated to Alberta in hopes of entering our healthcare system.
